Course Summary
The TEMPO EMT & First Responder Refresher Course is based on the concept that all law enforcement authorities need tactical emergency medical training that acknowledges their unique occupational operating environment. This is not a SWAT based TEMS course that teaches principles or skills requiring the officer to carry a lot of specialized gear, work with a SWAT team, or be at an exceptional level of fitness. This course provides instructional principles and skills that can be used every day by front line patrol personnel, field investigators, and SWAT team members.
Tactical EMS instructors have a unique skill set in addition to emergency medical practice that includes operational and leadership backgrounds with military, EMS, and SWAT operations. The staff includes current and former peace officers who have extensive training in Excited Delirium Syndrome, Simunition® , and Use of Force physiology. Chief Instructors Rob Snyder, Chris Maca and Greg Delo along with Dr. J.D. Ho draw on all of this to provide the course attendees with reality based instruction and training.
This course covers all of the basic EMT& First Responder topics required for National Registry and Minnesota refresher certification and is taught by a cadre of well-qualified and unique faculty. The faculty collectively has decades of experience in emergency patient care, tactical EMS, and law enforcement operations. Available only to sworn law enforcement personnel, this course is unlike any standard EMT Refresher that you have attended. It will enable you to use the skills that you have developed and apply them specifically to your occupational setting in ways that you have never thought of. Following successful program completion, your certification is valid for a period of 2 years but the skills you earn will be helpful to you and your partners for your career.
