The City maintains a 150-person volunteer Fire Department, one of the largest of
its kind in the country. The excellent fire protection provided by the Fire
Department has resulted in an ISO Class III fire rating for Bloomington.

Edina Fire
The mission of the Edina Fire Department is to serve the community by protecting
lives, property and the environment in a safe, efficient and professional manner.
The Fire Department is responsible for extinguishing fires, providing paramedic
advanced life support medical service, fire prevention and the maintenance of
firefighting equipment and fire department facilities. In addition, the Department
enforces laws and ordinances pertaining to fire safety.

Edina Police
As a first ring suburb with a significant retail area and three major commuter
freeways, Edina has a variety of law enforcement challenges. The Police Department
faces these challenges with a dedicated group of officers, dispatchers and support
staff who consistently deliver outstanding police services. In 1999, 96 percent of
the community affirmed this by rating our service as excellent or good.

Minneapolis/St. Paul Int'l Airport
Police
Larger than some municipal police departments, the Airport Police Department is
comprised of more than 85 sworn officers, detectives, K-9 units, undercover and
community service officers. Governed by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC),
Airport Police patrol the terminals, roadways and airfield, highways adjacent to
the airport, in addition to assisting neighboring law enforcement agencies.
